Culture Queenz, under the nurturing wing of Jungle City Projects since 2012, are on a mission to cultivate Afro Dance, Dancehall, and Hip Hop talents right here in Melbourne/Naarm. It’s not just about dance; it’s about deepening your cultural awareness and helping you excel in your craft. And guess what? The journey doesn’t end with you – our mentees, like Karabo and Simone, are now mentors, keeping the Culture Queenz legacy alive!

Don’t miss your shot! Culture Queenz are holding open auditions for dancers aged 15-20.
If you make the cut, you’ll dive into a 12-week adventure filled with FREE weekly sessions on Monday nights (5:30pm -7pm) at Jungle City Projects brand-new studio in Coburg.
Shine at Moomba Parade
Imagine yourself dancing alongside the professional JC Collective and a diverse group aged 12 to 55 in front of a massive audience at the 2024 Moomba Parade! The theme, ‘Roots and Culture,’ will illuminate the connection between modern dances and traditions from the past. You’ll be part of a 50-60 dancer ensemble, creating an unforgettable performance.

But that’s not all! Leading up to Moomba there will be monthly industry learning events at The Channel, where you’ll gain valuable insights into the dance world.

Lee Masiyane
Dance artist / Performer / Choreographer / Dance and fitness instructor
Lee has been dancing for as long as she can remember – firstly in the style of Hip hop and then, since arriving in Australia, and joining Melbourne’s top Dancehall crew Burncity Queenz has become highly acclaimed for her skills in Dancehall and Afrodances. Lee placed 3rd in the Australian Dancehall Queen competition in 2015 and travelled to Jamaica in that same year to learn from the creators first hand in Jamaica.
Over the past few years Lee’s career has gone from strength to strength – not only with her position at Jungle City, and as a member of Burncity Queenz, but also as a solo performer, performing with the likes of Sampa the Great, Baker Boy and featuring in numerous music videos with local and international artists.
Kitty Cat

Cat Pwiti aka Kitty Cat, founder of Burncity Queenz (Melbourne’s first official Dancehall dance group), and Jungle City projects, has over 15 years experience in the industry as a dancer and arts practitioner. As a member of Burncity Queenz Cat has performed alongside big name artists in Dancehall and Afrobeats including: Elephant Man, Demarco, Cecil, Bracket, Stone Boy, and Konshens to name a few. Cat has travelled to Jamaica seven times over the past six years to learn Dancehall by the creators of the dances, and founded True Jamaican Dancehall Tours in 2014 – bringing Jamaican dancers to Australia, and taking Australian students to Jamaica to learn Dancehall from the source.
Cat was the First Australian in history to enter the International Dancehall Queen competition, and in 2015 ranked Top Ten in the 19th Annual IDHQ Competition. She has toured around Australia sharing her knowledge and love of Dancehall and helped grow the Dancehall community through her hard work and dedication to the culture.
In 2018, alongside her Burncity Queenz crew members Cat became one of the official back up dancers for Baker Boy and has featured in several of his videos including ‘Marryuna’ the award winning ‘Meditjin’. In 2019 Cat began her studies into Dance Movement therapy and in the coming years plans to unite her knowledge of dance and DMT to better support the community using dance as a tool for healing.

Private lessons are held at studio locations in Melbourne’s inner northern suburbs. Our instructors can also arrange sessions at a location more suitable to you upon request, and if feasible.
